Just going to place some easy topics in here again.
So I think that masks are an easy response when a pandemic disease causes people to have a cough and shortness of breath.
Disposable masks are fine. No gaps at the sides, top, and bottom is a basic design element. If you have a mask that leaves gaps… you should get a mask design that doesn't leave those gaps.
There are also non disposable masks… I've used a very inexpensive rubber mask with replaceable P-100 filters: The Moldex 8000 series pre-assembled respirator
There are two small rubber circles inside of the mask that keep your exhaled breath from going out through the filters. Your exhaled breath goes out through a central exhalation valve.
I removed the two circles. Then, I placed one of those circles over a small post on the exhalation valve, to close off the valve. It has stayed in place without any problem in the months I've used it this way.
All elements are well made.
I mainly clean the mask using an alcohol wipe. The mask traps a lot of humidity and liquid builds up at the bottom of the mask. I usually stuff a paper napkin at the bottom space. I throw the soggy paper out then wipe the inside of the mask with the alcohol wipe.
